The mayor of Spokane, Washington proclaimed the nation’s first "Father's Day" on June 17th, 1910. It wasn't until 1972, after Mother’s Day was made official, that the day became a nationwide holiday in the United States when Nixon proclaimed Father's Day as a federal Holiday.
There are more than 70 million fathers in the United States and 2 million of those dads are single parents. Finally, 214,000 dads stay at home with their kids.
Happy Father's Day!
